Introducing Mentor Canada's New Quality Mentoring and Capacity Building-Specialist Ben Dantzer
Mentor Canada is pleased to announce that Ben Dantzer has joined the Mentor Canada team as the Quality Mentoring and Capacity-Building Specialist. Ben will lead quality mentoring & capacity building strategies at Mentor Canada. This key role will support the diverse needs of the mentoring sector through developing and scaling relevant tools and resources and providing technical assistance to build sector capacity and support quality mentoring experiences for youth in Canada.
Ben brings extensive knowledge of youth mentoring to this role, he is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at UBC, investigating the impact of mentoring relationships on human development and is a volunteer mentor in his local community.
Ben has a deep and nuanced understanding of what quality mentoring looks like, both from an academic and applied perspective. Before joining Mentor Canada, Ben managed various projects across Canada designed to help organizations and mentors improve the quality of their programming and better meet the needs of their communities. During these projects, Ben oversaw the capacity-building efforts of both staff members and mentors by facilitating several learning opportunities that introduced quality mentoring concepts and offered opportunities for participants to develop the skills necessary to nurture high-quality mentoring relationships. Prior to joining our team, Ben also served as an independent researcher with Mentor Canada, where he conducted a literature review of Canadian and international studies on youth mentoring. This literature review helped inform Mentor Canada’s State of Mentoring Research Study and subsequent research briefs.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys playing volleyball, reading, walking his dog, and spending time with family.
Please join us in welcoming Ben to the Mentor Canada team. If you would like to learn more about Mentor Canada’s quality mentoring resources or how your program can access capacity building support, Ben can be reached at Ben.firstname.lastname@example.org.
