Unleash the Power of Mentoring

What is the Power of Mentoring?

The Power of Mentoring Campaign is a series of virtual and in-person networking and skill-building experiences designed to support youth ages 18-24. These events connect youth with mentors, prospective employers and the Canadian labour market.

Youth gain an understanding of the practical job skills required to meet labour market demands, develop an awareness of the future of work and learn how to access opportunities aligned to their academic, career and life goals.

Each Power of Mentoring event will include facilitated career mentoring conversations in small and large groups plus skill building activities focused on networking, communications, goal setting, and personal branding.

Did you know?

Over the course of the pandemic, Mentor Canada has partnered with employers from across Canada, including Deloitte, Starbucks, RBC and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, to connect over 1500 young people to potential mentors. Through over one hundred virtual, hybrid or in-person Power of Mentoring events since February 2020, thousands youth and mentors connected. And those numbers are growing weekly.

Make an impact.

Mentoring relationships – both formal and informal – are powerful in that they broaden perspectives, increase opportunities and strengthen communities – for everyone.  All Canadian youth, especially those disconnected from education, employment and/or training, should have access to people that support them in achieving their academic, career and life goals.

Among youth who are mentored:

  • 17% are more likely to be employed

  • 13% have higher earnings

  • 50% are more likely to volunteer

  • Over 45% achieve senior leadership positions
